About Course
The 10-hour SST course is part of the training requirements established under Local Law 196 of 2017. Workers performing construction or demolition work on job sites with a construction superintendent, site safety coordinator, or site safety manager must complete 40 hours of approved safety training. The 10 Hour SST package fulfills the required Site Safety Training portion when combined with OSHA 30.
The 10-hour SST program is designed to strengthen job site awareness, reduce preventable incidents, and ensure compliance with New York City safety regulations. This course focuses on critical risk areas that directly impact construction site safety and worker responsibility.
As part of the broader Site Safety Training (SST) requirement, the 10-hour SST helps workers meet mandated training standards and qualify for their SST card.
Training Includes
The 10-hour SST package consists of:
- 8-Hour Fall Prevention
- 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness
These modules address major safety concerns in the construction industry, with special emphasis on fall-related hazards and maintaining a safe, substance-free work environment.
Training Requirements
To complete the 10-hour SST, participants must:
- Attend 100% of the scheduled training
- Achieve a minimum score of 70% on the written assessment
- Complete the course evaluation form
Completion of the 10-hour SST is required to satisfy the Site Safety Training component under Local Law 196.
