
Overview
The 32-Hour Supported Scaffold Installer & Remover Course prepares workers to safely install, dismantle, and adjust supported scaffolds in New York City. Also known as the 32 Hour Pipe Scaffold Erector Course, this training provides both classroom instruction and hands-on experience to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and NYC Department of Buildings standards.
Participants learn proper scaffold installation techniques, safe dismantling procedures, scaffold component identification, and job site safety practices designed to prevent injuries. The course also emphasizes pre-planning, reading scaffold design drawings, and understanding worker responsibilities on active construction sites.
Hands-on training allows students to practice building and dismantling supported scaffolds, apply standard rigging techniques, and demonstrate proper rope knot applications.
32-Hour Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover – NYC Requirement
To install or remove a supported scaffold in New York City, individuals must successfully complete a NYC DOB 32-Hour Supported Scaffold Installer and Remover course approved by the Department of Buildings.
Students are required to:
- Complete the full 32 hours of in-person training
- Participate in hands-on scaffold installation and dismantling exercises
- Pass the final examination with a minimum score of 70 percent
Upon successful completion, participants receive a Certificate and wallet ID card valid for four years.
Online training is not permitted for this course.

- Achieve a passing score on the final examination
- Submit the end-of-course evaluation form with their name included
