Course Overview
The 30 Hour Master Rigger course is a comprehensive safety and skills training program required for individuals seeking a Special Rigger license through the New York City (NYC) Department of Buildings (DOB). This course is essential for anyone responsible for the safe use of suspended scaffolding, hoisting equipment, and rigging operations on construction sites.
Participants will gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in rigging safety, hazard prevention, and regulatory compliance, preparing them to operate safely and efficiently in complex construction environments.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Identify rigging equipment, recognize associated hazards, and implement safety measures
Analyze common causes of accidents in hoisting and rigging operations
Recognize unsafe conditions with load binders and other rigging hardware
Apply safe working practices and develop effective emergency procedures
Inspect rigging hardware and evaluate its condition for safe use
Understand proper use and limitations of rigging equipment (wire rope, synthetic slings, shackles, eyebolts, hooks, etc.)
Apply correct hand signals during lifting operations
Recognize suspension methods and proper setup for rigging operations
Perform rigging calculations including load measurement, geometry, leverage, friction, fulcrum, center of gravity, and uniform/concentrated loading
