4 Hour RRP Lead Safe Renovator Refresher

The 4-Hour EPA RRP Lead Safe Renovator Refresher course is designed for certified renovators to renew their lead certification every five years. This refresher ensures that participants remain up-to-date with EPA Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) standards, with a strong focus on lead safety practices.

Only those who have previously completed the EPA RRP Initial Course and hold a valid, unexpired lead renovator certification are eligible for this refresher course.

Course Overview

The refresher course reviews the key principles of lead-safe work, including:

• RRP rules and regulations
• Proper use of lead testing equipment
• Lead-safe work practices for renovation, repair, and painting
• Containment setup to prevent dust and debris
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
• Inspection and cleaning using HEPA vacuums and statically charged wipes
• Accurate recordkeeping and documentation

The course may now be completed entirely online, following EPA’s approval for online lead certification renewal.

• Requirements for Completion:
  • Attend 100% of the 4-hour refresher course
  • Complete Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
  • Actively participate in all exercises
  • Complete pre- and post-quiz assessments
  • Achieve passing score on the end-of-course exam, if applicable
  • Submit end-of-course evaluation form with your name
