Pre-Requisites

This course is designed for construction foremen, riggers, rigging inspectors, and crane operators who assist or supervise the erection, climbing, or dismantling of tower cranes.

• Completion of the 30-Hour Climber / Tower Crane Rigger course is required before enrolling in this refresher.

• Understand updates to NYC Codes, Bulletins, and Rules relevant to rigging operations

• Analyze past accidents to implement preventive measures

• Select and apply safe work practices for construction sites

• Identify rigging equipment, hazards, and proper usage

• Evaluate the qualifications of mast climbers, crane operators, and riggers

• Inspect rigging hardware and identify inadequate or unsafe conditions

• Properly use rigging hardware including wire ropes, synthetic slings, shackles, eyebolts, and hooks

• Apply correct hand signals during lifting operations

• Recognize the roles, responsibilities, and best practices of Qualified Operators, Inspectors, and Riggers
